If you are a tenant or resident of the Finsbury Estate you are automatically a member of Finsbury Estate Tenants and Residents Association. FETRA works on the basis that collectively tenants and residents get a better service from the council for the rents and service charges that we pay. We mostly deal with issues or problems that the majority of residents across the estate, or of one block, are experiencing - generally these are about repairs and improvements to our homes and communal repairs to our estate.
Better service for residents
The only way issues have ever been resolved on our estate has been through having an effective tenants and residents association that has not been prepared to accept any excuses from the council.
No excuses

Our aims
FETRA aims to
-
Provide a strong, independent, collective voice for tenants and residents of Finsbury Estate particularly in negotiation with the council about repairs, maintenance and improvements to our homes and surrounding environment.
-
Protect our rights to secure, not-for-for profit homes.
-
Strengthen our sense of community and shared support.
-
Form links with other associations and organisations that share our aims.
-
Ensure that everyone involved with the Association and its activities is treated with equality.
FETRA carries out a range of activities to achieve its aims, including, but not exclusively:
-
organising social and community activities;
-
holding regular meetings;
-
gathering and sharing information;
-
carrying out surveys and petitions;
-
producing notices, newsletters, press releases and a website;
-
communicating regularly with our landlord and, where mutually beneficial, with other TRAs and community groups;
-
managing and letting out our tenant hall for social and community activities;
-
engage in responding to formal consultations relating to the local area.

FETRA elects a committee every two years, the members of which negotiate with the council on issues that have been discussed at FETRA meetings or simply on issues that have been drawn to our attention.
